How It All Began
Tuckers is a traditional butcher, established in 1984 by Paul Tucker in the village of Penclawdd on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. The business originally supplied the local community with fresh meat, frozen goods and groceries from the shop and through a home delivery service. Paul’s youngest son, Philip, joined the business in 2003 to learn his trade as a butcher.
We couple traditional butchery practices with modern cutting styles to produce high quality cuts of Gower meat suitable for any menu. Our meat is sourced as livestock from farms on Gower and surrounding areas and carry out all our butchery from carcass form, providing full traceability from farm to your door.
What We Do and Where Can You Meet Us
While learning carcass butchery, Philip also began making homemade sausages and increasing the range of homemade burgers on offer. Many of these products have won awards.
Daniel then joined the business, taught by Philip, and he now makes all the products for the business better than anyone else – including Philip!
As well as supplying the local community and Gower’s growing numbers of tourists and holiday makers, Tuckers now supplies a number of local businesses including country pubs, fine-dining restaurants, cafes and shops. Tuckers is also always present to support local Produce Markets, Food Festivals and Gower’s foremost agricultural show, The Gower Show, every August at the Penrice Estate.
In May 2017, Philip and Daniel opened a new Tuckers Butchers, in Mumbles, Swansea.
We can ship products across mainland UK so everybody can enjoy a taste of high-quality Gower meat.
At Tuckers, we believe that Gower is not only an area of outstanding natural beauty with stunning beaches and countryside but also an area of outstanding produce: beef, lamb, pork, seafood, ales and much more.
